New Starters

We would like to warmly welcome you to our school community.  We look forward to your child joining our school and taking the next steps in their learning journey.  Attached is some information on how you can prepare your child for starting school.  We will be sending out a full welcome pack to you in June.  Further information on taster days and our welcome meeting will be available shortly.  The current climate, may mean that we have to carry these out differently to how we have done in the past, however we would like to reassure you that we  will do everything we can to ensure that your child is as prepared as they can be and that they enjoy a smooth and successful transition.

  • What if my child isn't coming from local nursery will they settle and make friends?

We regularly have lots of children who start school not familiar with other children in their class. We closely monitor these children within the first few weeks to encouarge friendships and try to create at least one friend who they can talk to and interact with initially.

  • What if my child is particular about the food they eat?

Parents can select meal choices with children and there are lots of different options daily. Children tend to try lots of new foods at school as they want to be just like their friends.

  • What if my child doesn't settle?

If we feel your child isn't settling we will call you and ask you to collect them. This is only if staff feel your child is distressed. Staff will then arrange a meeting with you to discuss alternative transition arrangements. (This is very unusual as children tend to settle within the first 10 minutes of arriving at school.)

  • Is there a Breakfast Club or Link Club for after school?

We operate our own school run Breakfast Club and the information can be viewed on the school website. There are other providers which offer this service locally and an after school collection.

  • How will I know if my child is happy in school?

You will receive details of our online platform 'Tapestry', this gives the class teacher the opportunity to send you photographs and information during the day and for you to send WOW moments to school. The Early Years staff are available for you to ask at the end of each day and we do operate an open door policy. Each child is unique and you know your own best, if you have any worries at all then please do contact us even if you feel they are minor.
